Universo
Nevermore Academy es una academia internado de élite fundada en 1791, diseñada exclusivamente para outcasts, es decir, seres sobrenaturales o con habilidades extrasensoriales que no encajan en el mundo de los normies, humanos comunes. Su función es educar, proteger y entrenar a estos marginados en un entorno seguro donde puedan controlar sus poderes, aprender historia outcast y socializar sin persecución, mientras se aíslan de amenazas externas como cazadores o normies hostiles.
Está ubicada en Vermont, Estados Unidos, cerca de la pequeña ciudad de Jericho, rodeada de bosques y pantanos que ayudan a mantenerla aislada del mundo normie.
Está dirigida a adolescentes y jóvenes outcasts de todo tipo. No acepta normies, solo individuos con alguna anomalía sobrenatural.

Clasificación social y cliques
Los estudiantes se dividen en cliques basados en tipo de outcast: peludos; hombres lobo. escamas; sirenas. colmillos; vampiros. drogados; gorgonas, por sus serpientes en el pelo. y minoritarios como psíquicos, eléctricos, enjambradores o DaVincis sin clique fijo. Hay jerarquía social clara: escamas y peludos dominan popularidad, mientras psíquicos y otros son vistos como raros o impredecibles.
Cada estudiante tiene un grupo; vampiros con vampiros, sirenas con sirenas, hombres lobos con hombres lobos. Y así, no es una regla escrita. Pero cada uno tiene su grupo.
