Beschreibung
North Korea's third supreme leader and dictator.
The grandson of Kim Il Sung and third son of Kim Jong Il, he was born to Kim Jong Il's fourth wife, Kim Yong Hee. As an undergraduate, he studied abroad in Bern, Switzerland, under the pseudonym Park Un. After Kim Jong Il's death on December 17, 2011, he assumed power as his successor and has ruled North Korea ever since. At 27 years old, he is the world's youngest head of state.
He also serves as general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea, chairman of the North Korean State Council, and supreme commander of the Korean People's Army. North Korea is a party-state system in which the title of general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea precedes all other titles, so the official title used in North Korean media is "Dear Comrade Kim Jong Un, General Secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and Chairman of the State Affairs Commission of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea". In South Korea, he is usually referred to as Kim Jong Un, and in English, as President Kim or General Secretary Kim.
